CHTHONIC produced a comedy TSHIONG in 2014-15, for which they took party in everything from screenwriting to acting to composing the soundtrack. However, the screening of the movie has been delayed to the end of this year because Freddy was elected a member of the Taiwanese Parliament in 2016. The main actors in the movie, besides CHTHONIC, also include Randy Blythe, the lead vocalist of Lamb of God.
TSHIONG tells the story of a man from the countryside, A-tek (Tsai Chang-hsien), who decides to go to Taipei to seek help from CHTHONIC when his native village faces a malicious development project--but in the end he becomes CHTHONIC’s driver. Being a fan of CHTHONIC, he believed the band members are brave people who fear nothing, and would speak out against injustice, but gradually, he discovers that they are not as courageous as he thought, and are actually sometimes hesitant.
Randy Blythe of Lamb of God acts as himself in the movie. In the movie, he comes to Taiwan for collaboration in music with CHTHONIC, but becomes a good friend with A-tek. They take part in street protests side-by-side, and clashed with the police several times.
CHTHONIC and Lamb of God have become goo friends at the Ozzfest 2007. In 2011, CHTHONIC invited Randy to appear as a special guest in its Final Battle at Sing Ling Temple concert. In 2014, Randy came to Taiwan again for the movie TSHIONG. Randy will again some to Taiwan for the movie’s marketing campaign when it goes into theaters by the end of the year.
